The 41st Yomitan Festival
October 31 - November 1, 2015
One of the largest cultural festivals, offering folk entertainment in Yomitan, which is held in honor of two Yomitan great historical figures, Taiki and Akainko.
There are live music and dance performances by traditional music devotees, karate demonstrations, Shishimai dances, and other entertainment.
Besides staged performances, they also have a bonsai exhibition and a farmer's market as well as vendors selling Yutanza Hanaui among other items.
There is also a performance of Akainko, a classical Ryukyuan song, with 300 local dancers in additional to a recital of a traditional performance by 300 local students that you would not want to miss.
The finale is marked by the appearance of a gigantic replica of the Shinkosen ship, and the ship sails between a surging crowd of people to recreate the old days on the sea.
